Happy Anniversary In Titisee 💗

So today is our 23rd wedding anniversary (I know – you get less for life, etc). If you look below, you can see the card I gave to My Luvley Dave 💗💋
I had a lie-in after being woken by bell 🔔 ringing at 6am !!! Honest to God – and it went on for AGES !!!
When I re-woke at 9:15am it was to either somebody strimming grass or logs being sawn… Anyway Dave was nervous about not getting a campsite 🏕 again, so we got off pronto and arrived at Titisee – set on a lovely lake – before 11am and we DID get on a campsite 😊 – yippee !!!
We trundled off (on the pavement) on the bikes again and it was even MORE of a Tat-Shop Paradise than Triberg – but in a more up-market way…
I’d had no brekky and it was gone midday so we decided on a lakeside cafe where My Dave made friends with the 4 chihuahuas 🐶 !!!
Dave opted for CurryWurst & Fries and I had 2 Bratwurst, Sweet Mustard & A Pretzel 🥨 – and it was delicious 😋

More Cuckoo Clocks and Lunch 🥘 in Triberg…

So we then drove into Triberg and pulled up at the only campsite for miles around and it was – as Dave predicted – full 😐
The guy there directed us to the next village – Schonach – a few km on – where we found a “camping station” which is a bit like an aire in France 🇫🇷. It was basically a car park for the sports complex housing up to 10 motorhomes.
There was a French guy there (luckily as I had zero German) and he explained it cost 7 euros and you had to pay at the Tourist Information Office in town. So we trundled off on the bikes and paid and also bought some tokens for electricity and water. What was really good was they gave us a pass which allowed both of us free public transport covering the wider area and also free access into all of the swimming pools, etc. – very good VFM 💰
Then we did another death-ride into Triberg – I couldn’t stand it and rode on the pavements…
Triberg was filled with tat-shops selling cuckoo clocks, steins, lederhosen outfits, etc. – heaven for me 😊
It was really pretty with a waterfall, flowers, bridge – see piccies but we were starving so went for lunch first.
Initially very happy with us beer and dinky jug of wine (see below), Dave ordered chicken and chips (which he said hit the spot) but I ordered a “Saveloy Salad Strasberg-Style” – expecting some form of sausage – but check out the photo – it was spaghetti spirals of ham & cheese !!! Not a sausage in sight 😐 AND I downloaded Google Translate and tried out my German on him !!! You should have seen his face when (in German) I asked (nicely) for some butter to go with the basket of rye bread that came with the salad – you’d have thought I was asking for a fried Mars Bar !!! So eventually he brought me 2 tiny pats of butter, put “Special Request” on the bill and charged me another euro !!!
Bloddy Foreigners !!! 🇩🇪 and I’m allowed to say that being half ☘️ and half 🇵🇱 😂 xxx

Dinner Weds Night & The World’s Largest Cuckoo Clock !!!

So Weds night (after Dave had been practicing the sax and I was catching the last few rays ☀️) we eventually came in and I made us a LUVLEY tea (see below) – fish fillets with a cheese & crisps topping finished off under the grill with tomatoes & green beans with some bread. And I lit my Prosecco candle for the first time (a birthday pressie from one of my Gloucester Girls – I’m sorry I don’t know who – I’m often squiffy 🥴 on Boxing Day by the time I open my pressies !!!)
Anyway it smelled lovely and we’ve had it on the last 2 nights so thank you 💋
The next morning we set off for Triberg and just beforehand we got a shot of me in front of the World’s Largest Cuckoo Clock !!!
It chimes every half hour so Dave video’d it at midday but I think it may need an edit before posting on the blog as it’s not the most awesome thing we’ve ever seen 😂 xxx

Bike Ride Then Back At The Van

So we arrived at our chosen campsite (there should be a location link on most of the entries which – if you click on it – shows where the photo was taken. The entries that don’t have a location link are where I’ve airdropped a photo from Dave’s phone to mine…)
They had space, we have a hedge and My Dave was happy 😊 and we decided to have a cycle ride to the supermarket to get something for us tea 🥘
Whereas we rode safely on a cycle path through the woods in Luxembourg 🇱🇺, this was a fast, busy road… I said I’d follow Dave but (gallantly) he said he’d rather get hit first so I went ahead and he said to “get a move on”. So I switched the power to 3 on the Wisper and headed off. I was doing alright and suddenly Dave shouted from behind, “PULL over – there’s a LORRY coming !!!” I have always been obedient (I HAVE !!!) so I immediately pulled over and stopped.
“NO, NO, not HERE !!!” he shouted, “Up THERE – in the LAY-BY !!!” So there we are – with the lorry whizzing past us arguing 😂😂😂 I shouted, “ YOU said to STOP so I DiD !!!”
So he overtakes me (no longer gallant and I’m on my own if I get hit first 😂😂😂 !! !
Actually I got overtaken by several vehicles (including another massive lorry) and they were all very good and gave us LOADS of room).
After acquiring our purchases and an OK journey back, Dave is now practising his sax 🎷 in The Van. Check out the photo – his sax is INSIDE that contraption and it MUTES the sound !!! REALLY !!! I’m outside, updating the blog on my second cheeky rhubarb & ginger gin liqueur with tonic in the sun (check out my knees 😂😂😂)
That’s all folks !!! 🐷 🐰🦆 (OK so there are no emojis for Bugs Bunny and Donald Duck 😂😂😂) More tomorrow (when we get to see the World’s Largest Cuckoo Clock !!!) 💗💋xxx

Paris My @rse 😂😂😂

So we had a lazy morning – I updated the blog and Dave was messing about on his computer (like he does !!!)
I made us a nice fruit salad and then we set off supposedly for “The B500” (which is apparently the iconic road through The Black Forest 🌳 – as Route 66 is to California)…
So we picked a campsite and both Google Maps AND our Garmin (Motorhome SatNav) tried to send us via the motorway (as it was a more direct route and thus quicker) and after we stopped for fuel (quite soon after we left the previous campsite) I googled it again and dragged the route over to go down the B500 and advised Dave (strongly) to hang a right – but no – being a man, always being right, etc. he went left…
He got himself on the B500, informed me I had been wrong and told me to get a photo of the B500 sign on the road – which I did. However – as you can see – it’s on the way to Paris – i.e. we were heading north not south – but it still took a while to eventually realise this and go round the roundabout and back on the other side 😂😂😂
Anyway – it WAS a lovely route (if a bit steep and lairy in places – at one point where they had closed the road and Dave had to do a 3-point turn on the edge of a cliff where they were hang-gliding off the edge, I shut my eyes and hung onto the arms of my chair !!!)
It was too busy to park at the BEST photo-opportunity place but we pulled over and had lunch and took a couple of photos anyway…
Notice the “bald” trees – bit of trivia – some beetle has been feasting on the trees (I would have given you a more informative explanation but the mobile phone and data coverage here is shocking !!!
And (sadly) the tribute to the motorcyclist who sadly lost his life at the side of the road… 💗💋 xxx > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >

Deutschland 🇩🇪

So we did a fairly long haul from Luxembourg 🇱🇺 City to Germany 🇩🇪 yesterday – over 3 hours in The Van.
What we noticed as we drove back into France 🇫🇷 before hitting Germany 🇩🇪 was that lots of towns had German or German-French names (e.g. Mendorf Les Bains) but the road signs were all still in French…
We tried one campsite close to the top of the Black Forest 🌳 but it was full (Dave was delighted as it looked like Butlins’s 😂) then came across “Camping Adam” a little further along.
It is set around it’s own lake and so I went for a swim when we arrived yesterday – Dave went in up to his knees, muttered something about eels and went to watch me at the side !!!
It was so hot 🥵 it was just lovely to cool down… Then we got dressed and had a drink down by the lake and had a lovely BBQ followed by choux buns from the E.Leclerc hypermarche which were to die for (I’m going up be over 10 stone on my return !!!)
Nice lazy morning updating the blog – off for a shower now – more later – Auf Wiedersehen for now 💗💋 xxx > > > > > > > >

Drinks 🍸 🍺, C&A and Bambi !!!

So we got off the Skyliner and had a couple of drinks 🍸 🍺 in the sunshine in the centre where I spotted “C & A” !!! Remember that chain ? It bit the dust well before BHS in the UK but appears to be alive and well here !!! Sadly it was closed 😐
Luxembourg City is really hilly (thank goodness for the ELECTRIC bikes) so we cycled back and here we are with views over the city before our return journey via the woods where My Dave managed to capture a photie of Bambi… 💗💋 xxx

Rotating Skyliner Lift, Luxembourg 🇱🇺 City

So we came out of Notre Dame and were supposed to be going to the new (free) Pfaffenthal Glass Lift for panoramic views of the city but I made the mistake of showing My Dave some photos of it and hi noticed it had a glass floor (which he isn’t keen on to say the least !!!) so we ended up paying 14 euros to go on the Skyliner Rotating Lift (which I think was probably better in the end). Photos of the Woman of Gold (which was a WW II memorial but now signifies the freedom of Luxembourg 🇱🇺, the compulsory double-selfie with nothing recognisable in the background, each of us with the Luxembourg 🇱🇺 flag in the background on the way up, me with the Adolphe Bridge in the background, and also the time lapse photo-vid that Dave took which does the full rotation in 12 seconds… 💋💗 xxx

For the holy people… 🙏

So we trundled off to Luxembourg City and had lunch outside the van and then set off on the bikes for the centre.
Supposedly a 22 minute ride, we ended up following the river through the forest 🌳 and it took us over an hour but it was idyllic – with the breeze and the dappled sunlight (although I did kept giving Dave ear-ache that we were going the wrong way 😂😂😂).
We tried to visit the Grand Ducal Palace but it was fully booked so we bobbed over to the Norte Dame Cathedral and it was beautiful…
Check out the stained glass window of the Three Kings visiting baby Jesus and also the painting of The Wedding At Cana (where He changed water 💦 into wine 🍷)…
And I particularly liked the framed picture of the candles and it translates as:-
I don’t know how to pray, I don’t know what to say, I don’t have a lot of time…
SO ?
The light that I offer is a little bit of the good in me, … is a little bit of my time, … is a little bit of myself
That I leave before the Lord, … before the Virgin Mary, … before a saint
This light that shines symbolises my prayer that I continue as I leave…
* * * * *
God Bless the lot of you – whatever you’re up to and wherever you are 🙏 💗 xxx
