The poster I had spotted in Reception was entitled “Festival Thursdays” and they have a themed evening with different foods (but always accompanied by drinks & music) every Thursday in July and August.
The Market Square was a 13 minute stroll and it had been a really hot day so it was a lovely, balmy evening with no need for even a cardigan…
It was advertised as being on from 6pm until 11pm so we wandered down about 7:30pm and it was in full swing !!! A pretty little square with a fountain surrounded by bench tables / seats, a carousel for the children and some temporary stands.
The first stand served only 3 drinks – Beer, Red or White Wine. The second stand served only mojitos – of which there were several flavours to choose from – and finally the third stand served the food of the evening – which was Tarte Flambée.
After standing in the queue for the drinks, we realised it was cash-only so Dave kept our place in the queue and I bombed over the bank – where I had the privilege of being charged SIX EUROS to take our cash (AGAIN – the Dirty, Robbing, etc. 😂💰)
And – like all festivals – you buy the plastic cup for €1 then wine was €4 and beer was €6. And you had to buy a ticket for your Tarte Flambée there – either “Normale” or “Gratinère” so we went for the cheese-topped one.
It was like a really thin pizza – but yummy !!!
Everybody was eating, drinking, chatting & dancing – and it was brilliant atmosphere. They played a few English songs but I wasn’t quite brave enough to join the main throng of dancers so just had a jig on the spot !!!
We stayed to the very end (like we tend to do…) and a good time was had by all 😊
